Description

Typed note sent from Cecil K. Bancroft to registrar of Troy Polytechnic Institute about entrance for S.Y. Yung. Enclosed results from College Board exams and transcripts from Cornell. States poor English and German grades are due to lack of experiences. Asks what credits can be used towards entrance in the school.

The Registrar
Troy Poly technic Institute
Troy, N.Y.

My dear Sir:

Mr. Sen Yan Yung has been a member of this school for two years and I am sending herewith his school grades while here, together with his credits at the summer session of Cornell, closing August 15, 1906, and the results of his College Entrance Board examinations this June. He is now making up his Elementary German at the Cornell Summer School and will doubtless get credit for this course. He wishes to gain admission to your Institute next September. His deficiency in English is natural for one who has had so little practice in the language and this has doubtless handicapped him in his German, for you will notice that in the early terms on the Grammar he has done very well. I shall be glad to know what you can credit him towards entrance with you on this showing. He is a good fellow.

Very truly yours,

Cecil K. Bancroft
