Dear Sir;-
When I was leaving China in November, I received a letter from Mr. Tong
Kaison, saying that you had decided to give up the charge of his friend’s son Sun Fayen who was at that time studying in day school in Boston. As I was coming over to Boston to establish our headquarters there, Mr. Tong asked me to take over charge of the boy. On account of the disturbed conditions in China, I thought it advisable to remain in Washington, and, as there is no possibility of our moving to Boston in the near future, I hope you will continue to look after the boy till suitable arrangements can be made for the appointment of a new guardian.
I have no doubt, Mr. Tong has also written to you about the matter, but I am sure he will be very pleased to know that under the circumstances you are willing to continue the guardianship for the time being.
Yours faithfully,
