Mr. Benjamin Cook, Jr.
Fall River, Mass.

My dear Mr. Cook,

On the strength that you are my old friend and companion in the Boston Athletic Association, I have dropped the formality of a “Dear Sir” used in your note. Perhaps I have struck the wrong person. If so, please pardon this seeming familiarity.

As to the Chinaman, I shall be glad to see him here almost any day next week, preferably Monday or Tuesday, and in the morning. We have a number of Chinese boys now in the school, so that he won’t feel wholly among strangers. If the boy can come early in the week, that will suit me best.

Sincerely yours,
Alfred E. Stearns.
