My dear Dr.Tenney:

I beg to acknowledge receipt of your favor of the 16th inst. inclosing check for $500. To be deposited to the account of Li Chien Luan. Am I to understand that this amount is to cover all of the boy’s expenses for the year! I ask this that I may be governed by the proper consideration in advising him as to his various expenses. I trust the boy may do well.

Sincerely yours.
Alfred E.Stearns.
