My dear Dr.MacDaniel:
Thank you for sending me the checks indicating the disbursement of the money placed in your hands last year in behalf of K.Y Tu. I am returning the same that you may keep them for record.
Under the circumstances it will be best, probably, for yon to hold the $3.27 in question and let me add a bit to it, so that you may have an emergency balance in case emergencies arise. In the meantime, the boy can and should consult me about necessary expense and secure what he requires. All of my other Chinese wards regularly OK and send me for payment all the different school and college bills. In addition, they receive monthly allowances varying from $5.00 to $10.00 for purely personal expenses, really luxuries, and I can’t understand why Tu seems so unwilling to confer to this customary practice.
I note what you say about the room and under the circumstances shall be satisfied with the arrangement which you have finally made.
Very sincerely yours
