My dear Dr.MacDaniel:
Thank you for your interesting letter about my young ward, K.Y.Tu. It is ture that the boy’s father has asked me to act as his American guardian during the lad’s stay in this country and that I have been accustomed to pay the boy’s bill remitted to me from time to time. The Matter of personal expenses the boy has taken care of out of a small monthly allowance which I have granted him and by O.K.ing and presenting to me for payment such incidental bills as he has found it necessary to contract. Now that he is at a distance I fully concur with your suggestion that funds should be placed in your hands, to be used as oocasion may arise and always subject to your approval. I am consequently enclosing a check for $50.00 to cover incidentals of this kind.
I am also enclosing a check for $327.16, the amount of the bill rendered for the boy’s board, room, tuition, etc. This means a pretty heavy overdraft on the lad’s account as it stands to date, but I have no doubt that the father will in due time make the necessary remittance; so that I have no hesitation in assuming the responsibility of advancing the funds at this time necessary to meet the proper charges of your school.
Yours sincerely yours.
