Description

Typed note from K.Y. Tu to Dr. Alfred E. Stearns. Decides to attend Genesee Wesleyan Seminary in Lima, New York for two years. Believes it would better to attend for 2 years then return to Andover for remaining 2. Needs approval from Stearns as guardian.

Dear Dr. Stearns:

Your favor enclosing a check for $ 140 has been received with much appreciation.

In regard to my schooling next year I have now the idea of entering the Genesee Wesleyan Seminary, Lima, New York, instead of going to Phillip Academy. The Lima school is much smaller than Phillip but of high standard; and I think you must know some thing about it. According to my idea it would be best for me to go to a smaller school like that for the first two years, and spend the last two years in Phillip. Moreover, the expenses is much less than in Andover.

However, as you are acting as my guardian in this country, I have to get your approval before I proceed with my proposition.
Hoping to learn from you soon,

I am,
Yours respectfully,
