My dear Mr. Steams,

On the 2nd July, I wrote to you in reply of yours of the 25th May, it is now over a month, I think your reply is on the way, having the accounts before me, which you are so kind to take the trouble of forwarding, gives me the exact financial position of how it stands.
I am enclosing a cheque for ยง600. by the usual channel, trusting it will reach you in due time.

It has been very mild this summer in this part of China this year, probably as usual we may have hot autumn days and cool evenings from now.

Wishing my boy will spent his summer vacation by being useful in many ways as a youth may do, and at the same time not to forget of what he has learnt.

Hoping you are well and with sincere and kind regards from

Yours ever truly
