Dear Dr. Stearns:

Formerly I planned to study at Boston Y. M. C. Summer School. But now by the advice of my friends I have changed my mind. I have asked a Chinese who has just got his 3. B. degree from Boston University to teach me Mathematics, Algebra, and English. He is an expert in teaching these courses. He has ever taught in a middle school in China for several years. Of course I may learn more from individual teacher than from school. It doesn’t cost me very much. One hundred and twenty dollars will be enough for a month including tuition, board, and room rent. Would you please send me a check of $120 for my expenses of next month?

Enclosed I send back a check of $100 sent from you for my summer school trution. I hope you will receive it all right.

Yours respectfully,
