My dear Mr. Stearns,
In acknowledging the receipt of your kind letter of the I7th of March, I have the pleasure to enclose another check for $600. which I trust will reach you in due time, so that it will not embarrass you too often of borrowing for my son, I am glad to hear of his trying hard to keep his expenses within the limit, still he requires the strict supervision from you, which I am greatly indebted.
I beg to take this opportunity to assure you that in sending you the little present as an emblem of friendship, and it was not in any way to mean service reimbursement, for your kindness in caring and looking after him is priceless and un-payable. At any time you may have occasion to require any service in this part of the land I hope I may have the honor to serve you, to re-pay a minim part of what you have done for me. The unsettlement of my country is causing much suffering among the population and the cost of living is also increasing daily but here.
May be through an oversight the copy of the accounts was not enclosed as stated in your letter.
With kindest regards, I remain
Yours most sincerely,
