My dear Mr. Tu:

At last your wonderful Christmas present has reached its destination, a^'d I hack the privilege of opening the box only two or three days ago and reveling In the attractions of its contents. Nothing could give me greater pleasure than the receipt of a present of this kind, for the earlier cloisonne work of your wonderfully clever artists has always appealed very strongly to me, and the few pieces that I already possess have been among my most valued treasures.

I did not dream, when you wrote of sending me a small Christmas token, that you for a moment thought of sending me anything so valuable as the gifts which are now on my parlor table. They make me very humble when I think how little I have done to deserve them, but I am sure that they will prove an added incentive to me to strive hard in the future to carry out your wishes for your boy. My thanks are very hearty and sincere, and I shall al aye think of your friendly generosity when X look upon these visible tokens of your good will.

Even if the Christmas season for which they were intended, did not record their arrival and nearly two months have passed since that holiday. I am taking some satisfaction in the thought that they have reached me about the time of your own New Year holiday season, which, in turn, comes the nearest of anything to embracing the holiday spirit that we associate here with Christmas.

Sincerely and gratefully yours.
