Dear Charlie:
Your letter of June 19 reached me this morning. Only an hour or two ago a telegram which I sent you a couple of days ago came back to me undelivered. I am enclosing a copy of the latter so that you can see that I have tried to get in touch with you even though unsuccessfully.
It was a big disappointment not to see something of you when I was in Amherst last week. The fact is that I had only two days there, the first of which was spent chiefly at a Trustee meeting and with my classmates. Sunday morning I had to go to Deerfield with some friends, lunch with the President later, and then divide nearly all of the rest of the afternoon to showing one of our Andover trustees around the college and explaining the plans for future development. This left me only time to say good-bye to my classmates and start for home, as I had to be here for Chapel and the final faculty meeting Monday morning. On the way I called at your dormitory and tried to locate you, but without success.
All of which goes to prove that I shall be delighted to see you up here early next week. I am leaving today for the Lake, and expect to be back Monday afternoon or evening. Just call me on the telephone some time after that, reversing the charge, and we will arrange to get together.
Faithfully yours,
Mr. Charles Sun
