Dear Charlie:

Thank you for your letter of July 6, which followed me up to camp. I am answering it today from Andover, as I am back here for a day or two, at least.

Yes, your father had already written me about your position for next fall, and I congratulate you, and heartily. I don't know much about the mission in question, but have no doubt that the experience would prove of real value to you, and will be very likely also to pave the way for something worth while when you return to China. In the meantime, make the most you can of your work in stenography this summer, for in a secretarial capacity you will find that indispensable.

I can't tell you just where I will be the first of August. In all probability I shall be at the Lake, though the chance are that one or two more trips down here during the summer will develop.

With every best wish, believe me

Very sincerely yours,
