My dear Dr. Stearns,
Your kind letter of May 21st. just came to me while I was going on board of my steamer for Tientsin.
I thank you most heartily for all what you have advised me regarding Charlie. I sincerely trust that the recent arrangement will satisfy him. It is most gratifying to read your good news of Mary's progress and the latest report you have recieved [sic] stating some definite improvement in recent months.
Kindly excuse me for this brief note, because I have to hurry for the ship. I thank you again, with best regards from,
