Dear Mary:
Thanks for your last letter. It is good hear from you after these many weeks of silence and to know that you are so happy and making such good progress in your work. Your letters have certainly a far better ring than those which used to come from Elmira.
I am enclosing a check for three hundred dollars as requested. Kindly send me the statement, though, for I would like to look it over and have it for your father's file.
I suppose you know that Charlie has landed safely in London. I had a letter from him while he was on the sea and another longer one written after he had arrived at his destination. I don't think he is over-happy at the prospects just ahead of him, but I am hopeful that things will brighten as he becomes more used to his surroundings and has had a chance to make friends.
With all best wishes, believe me
Faithfully yours,
