Dear Mr. Sun:

Thank you for your letter of April 21. I shall give a good deal of thought to Mary’s problem before allowing her to make any radical changes in her present plans. In the meantime I shall, of course, take into most careful consideration all of the suggestions which you have so wisely offered.

I do not think that you need to worry about Charlie seeking a military career, for I am sure that at heart the boy has no real talent or interest in that particular line. He ought not to have, in any case, unless he should find the profession a medium for doing so something really worth while economically, morally, and politically for his country, and the the history of the nations of the world reveals only too clearly the fact such rare leaders are few and far between.

As I wrote in my letter to you of April 24, the remittance of $4,000, to which you refer, was duly received from the national City Bank of New York. The check came direct from the Bank without any other comment than that it was being forwarded at your request and so I acknowledged Its receipt at the time, February 4, 1928, direct to the Bank. The amount in question was deposited at once and to the credit of Charles, Thomas, and Mary which I assumed to have been your wish.

With personal regards, believe me always
Very sincerely yours,
