Dr. A. E. Stearns
6 Chapel Avenue
Andover, Mass.

Dear Dr. Stearns:

Thank you, Sir, for you note. If It hadn’t been for the cold which I had for a week and the busy spell directly following my illness, I would have written you immediately after my return from Washington. Well, I must admit that my trip to the capital was more pleasant and useful than I expected. Both Dr.and Mrs. Sze were very kind to me, and the Minister had done a lot about Mary’s case. I am really thankful to him as well as to you.

When I think of it, I feel that it is time for me to look foward to my summer abode for this year. I really have not many places to go or many choices as to what to do, but two I have and I will ask you to decide which one I should follow if any. A Chinese college-mate of mine is very interested to see Andover, and when I suggested that we two may be able to get a job in Phillips Academy during the summer, he was greatly pleased about my proposal, and immediately he urged me to write you to see if you can help us in this matter. But before doing anything I must ask you whether you allow me to work in Andover this summer; if I could, would there some positions available for us? Furthermore, if Phillips Academy cannot give us work, could you find work for us elsewhere. This is one. The other plan I have in mind is to go to some summer school, either Cornell or Harvard; because these two are strongly recommended by the administrative body of Amherst College. Please tell me which one of the two plans you would permit me to follow, or if neither is proper in your judgment, please suggest some other means by which I can pass my summer.

Our ball team won from Middlebury College last Saturday. Woodruff, who played on the 1921 team at Andover, pitched for that game, and struck out eleven of his opponents allowing only three hits during the whole game. I myself to get some exercise on Sunday afternoons would have a catch with a fellow staying in my house, but my regular form of exercise for this spring is soccer.

Sincerely yours,
Charlie Sun
