My dear Mr.Wells:
Thank you so much for your interesting and illuminating letter of March 10 and the accompanying report of Kong Tu’s scholastic activities under your patient direction. If the boy is making even some progress, slight though it may be, it is good and a bit unusual news. Frankly, I had about given him up as a hopeless proposition some time ago and tried as gently and tactfully as I could to make the father see the situation from my viewpoint. Consequently, I am delighted with any evidence of a change of heart on Tu’s part.
I congratulate you on what you seem to have accomplished to date, and trust that your patience may not be exhausted too speedily and that the boy himself may come to appreciate what you have done and attempted to do in his behalf.
Very sincerely yours,
Mr. H.B.Wells, Vice President
