My dear Mary:

I received your telegram yesterday and immediately forwarded a check for $300.00, as requested. I hope this will have reached you safely by the time this letter arrives.

By all means keep in touch with a good doctor and don’t let that old trouble get going again. I am sure that it can be curbed, if not actually eliminated, under the right treatment.

I do hope that you are feeling easier also about your college work, for I can't believe that you have been doing as poorly as you intimated in an earlier letter. In the meantime I shall continue to urge your father to let you take the nursing course, though evidently he is not inclined to approve the plan. Just why, I don't know, unless it be that in China the profession has not yet reached the high position which it is rapidly coming to occupy here in the United States.

With all best wishes, believe me

Ever sincerely yours,
