Dear Charlie:
I am enclosing a letter from the accident Insurance Company which explains itself, and I am also sending you a check to cover the total amount and a little more, so that the payments may be made direct by you and not by me. This will make it possible for you to handle the matter through your own funds and will not force me to send the detailed statement to your father. In other words, I am remitting you a lump sum towards your general expenses. Out of that you will pay the Company and in time you should be able to make reimbursements for the expenses, in part at least, through your own efforts, as you have already suggested.
Please note in the second paragraph how the checks should be made out. Send them all to Mr. Hatch, the writer of the enclosed letter, at the address given in Springfield The AEtna Insurance Company, and then please return Mr. Hatch’s letter to me. I already have the waivers to which he refers, but they will not be operative, of course, until the money has been received by the Aetna Co. Please attend to this immediately on receipt of this letter.
Faithfully yours,
