My dear Miss Harris:
I am grateful to you for your very frank letter about Mary Sun, and I am taking the liberty of sending a copy of that letter to Mr. Sun, Sr., for it may help me in my efforts to persuade that oriental gentleman that he is pushing his daughter in the wrong direction, at least in my judgment. In the meantime I hope you can be patient with Mary until I can get at least one more reaction from the father and in the hope that that reaction may enable us to handle the case in a way that will tend to arouse Mary's fast lagging ambition and give her a new start.
Very sincerely yours,
