Dear Madam,
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th instant enclosing a silk hankerchief from B. Wong of Shanghai, please permit me to thank you for the trouble in forwarding the package. As to the spoiled pork flavia, I hope that you will not have much trouble in disposing it.
Dr. Stearns, as you probably know, is here in London. I had the pleasure of dining with him and Miss Clemons last night.
Thanking you again,
Sincerely yours
