Dear Tom:

Good for you, and congratulations on the outcome of your conference at Yale. If Yale has the courses you desire to take, as I infer is the case, it looks as if you had things pretty well lined up for the coming two years, at least.

Charlie wrote me the other day that he rather inferred from something his father had said to him that it was your father's wish that you should return to China with Mary when the latter graduates from the Yale Nursing School. I can't reconcile this, however, with what your father has recently written me and what I think he has also written you as well. Very likely Charlie was thinking of an earlier period when your father may not have been quite so sure of what he actually did want you to do at the close of your college course.

With all good wishes, believe me,
Sincerely yours,
