Dear Mary:
Your good letter of September 27 has just reached me. I am glad that you are writing your father a full explanation of the complications which arose in connection with your trip to Elmira, for I am sure that, when he hears from Mr. Robinson, he will feel that I distinctly neglected my proper responsibilities, and I know that he will be disturbed.
The chief reason I accepted the invitation to preach at Elmira was the opportunity it would afford me to see you in your new surroundings and talk things all over with you in person. As you know, we have had little chance in recent months to discuss your affairs, and I am consequently glad of this coming chance to do so.
With all good wishes, believe me,
Faithfully yours,
AES/G
