Dear Tom:

Thanks for your note, and thanks, too, for the statement of your account to date. I am enclosing a check which ought to carry you through to the spring term, at least. I am figuring the amount on the basis that Mary and Charles are working. As a matter of fact, your expenses at Middlebury ought to be a bit less than those of either of the other two, owing to the locality and general prices that prevail.
