My dear Mr Stearns:
I do not know Miss Hawkes of Corning. There is a Hawkes family in Corning connected with the cut glass factory. I have known some of the older members of this family but whether the Sally of your letter belongs to that family I do not know. If she does I should say it would be a pleasant place to visit. I agree with you that for Miss Sun the cultivation of acquaintances she is just opening at college may be more to her interest than the pursuit of interests outside the college.
Very cordially yours,
