Dear Tommie:
Thanks for your letter just received.
I had a good visit with Mary in Elmira Sunday and found her in the best of health and spirits. She plans to pass her Christmas holidays in Springfield with friends. Charlie will be in Amherst, and Arthur will be at work probably not far from Springfield; so that I imagine that it would be a mighty nice thing if you could arrange to spend a few days of your vacation in Springfield or Amherst. Anyway, come and see me as soon as you get away for your vacation, and we can talk it over. I only regret that I can’t from circumstances provide a welcome in my home this year, as in the past, for you Chinese friends.
No boxes have appeared from China yet, but if they do come and are in condition to forward and so that you can be sure of receiving them before you leave, I will send yours on. Otherwise I shall hold them here for further orders.
Very sincerely yours,
AES/G
