Dear Tom:
Thanks for your letter of May 1st. I did not mean to criticize at all your decision to stay at Middlebury for the vacation but only to remind you that it is important that I should know in advance your whereabouts just in case of emergencies arising. You had written that you were going to be with Arthur in Boston, and, when Arthur wrote that you had not appeared, I naturally felt disturbed.
Congratulations on that mark in French! Evidently you are beginning to strike your gait in your studies, and I am delighted, as I am sure your father will be also. Continued success to you!
