Dear Mary:

I have just received your letter of May 24, and, while I do not wish to dictate in connection with your summer plans, I am sure that you ought to arrange to spend a little time, at least, with Arthur and Charlie in Boston before Arthur starts for home. I am equally sure that your father would approve of this arrangement, though it involved some extra expense and would be unhappy if it were not carried out. You and Arthur and Charlie can decide among you what is the best time for the visit, but be sure that you make it.

Perhaps you are taking the right courses in Elmira, but I must admit that I find it a bit difficult to appreciate what you are going to do with your Chemistry, Entomology, and Mineral Resources when you get back to China, unless you are planning to be a mining or civil engineer.

With all good wishes, believe me

Faithfully yours,
