My dear Sir:-
Allow me to thank you for your kind letter of the 5th inst., received this morning. I am very glad to learn that you are willing to interest yourself in behalf of Mr. Seetoo. I enclose a record of the boy's work with us to date. While I know that it is not customary to extend government aid to preparatory-school pupils, I know that there have been cases where this has been done, and I am sure that none of the Chinese boys whom it has been my pleasure to know have more fully proved themselves deserving of this help than has Mr. Seetoo.
Very sincerely yours,
