My dear Alfred:
Thank you for your letter of September 11 which I have just received.
I am planning to have you go back to Mont Vernon for this coming school year, though I shall expect you to do some harder work there than you did this last year or else I am afraid your chances of getting into Phillips Academy a year hence will be all too slight. We will talk this over when you get back to Andover. The time of your return should be determined largely by Mrs. Nye's convenience, for I don't wish you to extend the visit to a point that adds too much pressure on her time and hospitality. The Inn is likely to be pretty well filled until early next week; so that it would be well probably to delay the Andover trip until that time provided, of course, such an arrangement should prove absolutely agreeable in every way to Dr. and Mrs. Nye.
Faithfully yours,
