My dear Helen:
Thanks for your letter. Don’t apologize for your delay in writing. These opening days, and even weeks, of a school year are not calculated to give students or teachers much time for anything but the regular and required duties.
Your schedule sounds to me a bit heavy, but no doubt Mrs. Russell knows what is best. I should question myself the wisdom of taking both American and English History at the same time, unless Mrs. Russell figures that you can best strengthen your work in English in this way.
I shall try to run over pretty soon to have a look at you and talk with Mrs. Russell about your work for the year. In the meantime, take good care of yourself, don’t eat candy and sweets between meals, and be sure to get plenty of vigorous and wholesome exercise.
Always sincerely yours,
