Description
My dear Sister Antony;
As the Christmas holidays are approaching, I am increasingly concerned about my Chinese ward, Helen Tsai, and am puzzled to know just what I ought to make for her vacation. It is not practicable for me to provide for Helen and her brother in my own home, and I am not satisfied with having them make their headquarters at our local hotel, even though that hotel is a small country one, controlled by the school, and about as harmless as such a place could possibly be. I am writing merely to inquire whether you are accustomed to provide for girls who for various reasons may wish to pass their holidays at the school, and if such is the case, whether you would deem it wise for Helen to invest her vacation in this way. Some friends of the Tsai family who live South Weymouth, Massachusetts, would very likely be glad to welcome the children into their home for part of the holiday period, though I am not even sure of this.
I shall appreciate greatly any suggestions you may care to offer or any help you may give me in handling my problem. I shall also welcome any information relating to Helen's progress and general record at Saint Mary's.
Very sincerely yours,
