I enclose herewith a check for $2,000 for the children’s expenses and also copy of my letter to Admiral Tsai. You will receive from me either during or immediately after the Christmas vacation another sum of about the same amount for their maintenance.
I shall sail for Europe next Saturday and shall not be back in Washington until about the middle or the latter part of November. In the meantime if you have anything special with reference to Admiral Tsai’s children, please communicate with my secretary, C.K. Young, at the Legation.
