My dear Tsai:

I have your letter of March 16th. Twenty dollars for incidental purchases at the store seems to me a pretty big account for you to have run up in this short time; though I am willing to hold my judgment in abeyance until you get back. Your tendency to spend money freely, however, has always troubled me a bit and has been one of the influences that has led me to question seriously whether it was fair to your father for you to continue the American experiment. Do be careful, and when you get back next week let me know just what has happened.

Ever yours,
