My dear Mr. Liang:

I have your letter of July 17 addressed to Mr. Newton. Mr. Arthur Stearns, of the Steams School, told us early in June that your brother-in-law had decided not to come to us this fall.

The boy did not take our June examinations, and I supposed that the information was definite. However, it will be possible, I believe, for us to receive him if he is now prepared to take up our work. I have not received the usual information from the Stearns School for the reason already indicated. I shall be glad to hear from you immediately as to whether the boy wishes to make definite application, or whether this is merely an inquiry as to possibilities.

Very truly yours.
