My dear Dr,Stearns:
I am writing to acknowledge the kindness of your letter of September ninth, and to express my appreciation of the spirit in which it was written.
I hope you will overlook the provincialism of a westerner who has known some thing of the record of Phillips Academy in caring for Chinese students, but has known of your intimate connection with it. With your permission I shall send the letter on to the parents in Tientsin,to whom it will be a very great comfort.
May I express the hope sometime to meet you and thank you in person for your kindness to students in whom I have an interest also.
With kind regards,
