My dear Dr. Stearns:

I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of June 29th, and am very much disappointed to learn that my ward, P. Y. Liang has not made greater progress in his work in your school. I have asked him down to York and made a thorough investigation of his failure. Having done so, I quite agree with you that he needs personal and intimate guidance in his studies. Will you please be so kind as to recommend a school suitable for this boy?

Thanking you for your kind attention, I am

Yours very sincerely,
