Description

Typed letter from H.F. Yung to Dr. A.E. Stearns expressing that he has little hope in securing a summer position at a bank in Boston for the summer. Plans on potentially visiting New York City to secure a summer position at a bank there, but is ultimately unsure because if unsuccessful in securing a position, he will have made the trip for nothing.

Dear Mr. Stearns:

It seems very unlikely that I can find a position in a Boston bank. I went to see Mr. Ripley last Friday, and on the following day their manager of the Foreign Department answered me that he could see no opportunity for me. This morning I went to the Massachusetts Trust, and was told that their posts were all filled. Subsequently I tried the Old Colony Trust. But to my disappointment Mr. Phillip Reed was not there; he goes there only twice a month for the bank meetings.

I am thinking about going down to New York City, but I have not decided yet; for if I should be unable to get a job there, then my trip would be a total waste.

Yours very truly,
