Dear Dr. Stearns:
I enclose herewith copy of a statement of the $4,000 gold which Admiral Tsai remitted to me for his children. After deducting payments made on their behalf, I still have $1,771.76 on hand and hasten to send you the enclosed check for this amount payable to your order. Please be good enough to acknowledge its safe receipt at your early convenience.
