Dr. Alfred E. Stearns,
Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass.

My dear Dr. Stearns:

I have decided to enter M. I. T. instead of going back to Andover next fall. In order to do that, it is necessary for me to take some subjects in the summer school so as to make up the requirements for entrance. This summer school begins about August 21st and will last for four weeks. It is specially arranged by Tech for those who are entering this institution in the fall.

First of all may I ask you to cancel the room (5 Andover Cottage) which I have applied for the coming school year? Secondly, I want to know whether I am allowed to come back to school in case of my failing to enter Tech, because the summer school would not be over until the 20th of September and from 20th on will be the time for entrance examinations.

Waiting for your kind answer.

Sincerely yours,
