Description
Typed letter sent from Dr. Alfred E. Stearns to L.C. Sun. Suggests check receipts be returned quickly, rather than waiting until sending the next letter. Explains Chinese students are expected to learn proper business methods. Asks about extra twenty dollars as bill was for twenty, not forty. Ask if a bill was missed.

My dear Sun:
Your letter of the twenty-third instant has just reached me. May I suggest that receipts for checks sent to you be returned promptly and that you do not wait, as you boys all seem accustomed to do, until you need more funds before sending back the earlier receipt. I mention this merely because one of the things you fellows are expected to learn in this country is proper business methods. It embarrasses me not a little when the receipts are not received for filing.
Now as to the extra twenty dollars. I do not understand just what you mean, for the bill which you rendered me from Blackhard’s Branch called for the amount I sent you and not forty dollars. Is there another bill which I have not received? I shall be glad to send you the required amount on receipt of the necessary vouchers, but, as I expect later to return all receipts to Mr. Tong it is important that I have this one.
I hope you will have a great time at your coming conference. Please remember me to any of the Chinese boys you happen to meet, who remember me.
Sincerely yours,
