My dear Sun:

Your letter of the 9th Inst, has just reached me. I am sending $25.00 herewith and will send more if it is absolutely necessary, but inasmuch as Mr. Tong especially instructed me to see that you boys were not extravagant I cannot help hesitating before sending all you have asked for. This would amount to $100. more for the summer than you or any one of our other Chinese boys have ever had from me before, $50.00 more than the other boys have had this year.

Please don't misunderstand me. I wait to do the right thing by you, but I must also carry out instructions from Mr. Tong as far as possible.

Kindly return the inclosed receipt after you have properly signed it.

Most sincerely yours,

principal.
