My dear Mrs. Nye

I have your letter of February 1st.

Either Helen handed me or you sent me statements from Filene’s showing expenditures made by you in Helen’s behalf during the holidays. While the statements were made out in your name, I understood that I was to settle, and did so at the time. I enclose the receipts which seem to cover the articles listed on this latest account of yours as well as two additional ones not so listed. If I have misjudged the situation, please do not hesitate to let me know. Kindly return the receipts also, as I keep a complete file of these in the expectation of sending them later to China.

As for the dentistry, I am sure that it ought to be attended to, but I am sorry that it could not have been done sooner. I wonder if it is net delaying matters a bit too long to wait until the summer for this work. Indeed I am not sure what the children are going to do this summer, though Helen told me only yesterday that she wished to continue her regular study, a course which practically all of my Chinese ward have followed in recent years. I had thought something of seeding her to the Sea Pines Sumer School down on the Cape, but I suppose in any case there would be two or three weeks in the early and late summer when both of the children would be more or less free lances.

Very sincerely yours,
