Dear Tommy:
I am enclosing checks herewith for you and Chow, yours for $45 and Chow’s for $25, as requested. I had written Chow that he was not to go to the Conference. Either the letter failed to reach him, or he has deliberately disobeyed orders. In any case the $25 will have to cover all of his expenses until school opens, for I can't send him any more money this summer.
I hope you will be a bit careful yourself, for it appears that your expenses this summer have run a bit higher than usual, and I don’t want you to spoil the good record you have been making for the past year or two.
I wish I could get to the Conference, but as I am only just back from the woods and have my family to get settled as well as the school work to take up again, I fear it is out of the question. I hope you will have the time of your life up there in my old home town.
Faithfully yours,
