My dear Mr. Vreeland:
Much as I regret the contents of your note I am indeed grateful to you for writing me of Tommy Lee's delinquencies. There is no reason in the world why the boy should be behind unless he has succumbed to the distractions of university life. With four years here as a background he ought to be fully qualified to handle in a proper way college conditions, and I am disappointed and distressed. I am writing him by this same mail and shall be ready to cooperate with you in every possible way in the endeavor to impress upon the boy the necessity of making good.
Very sincerely yours,
