Dear Tommy:

Mr. Vreeland has thiasmorning written me felling [sic] me that your probation for cuts has been removed, though the official warning for scholarship remains. A half loaf is batter than none at all, and I am glad indeed to get this piece of good news, even though it is not all that I could wish for. Keep at that scholarship record please, and see if by the end of the current year you cannot get the ban removed from that department also. I want you to face the summer with a good clear record behind you, and nothing to worry about for next fall. Don’t disappoint me.

It was certainly good to see you the other night, and I only wish that my time down there had allowed me a chance to talk things over with you more fully and frankly.

With all best wishes, believe me,

Faithfully yours,
