Description
Typed letter sent from Dr. Alfred E. Stearns to Burke & Company. Unaware that Burke & Company involved was same as Andover firm. Believed matter was a separate concern. Apologized for confusion. Sent bill to Lee to be okayed. Will settle once okayed.

My dear Sirs:
Allow me to acknowledge receipt of your favor of June 10th.
I am very sorry if I have done you an injustice in the case of Mr. Lee’s account. I did not realize at the time that the Burke & Company involved was the same firm that is represented here in Andover. As Lee has frequently traded with this firm, and as I have regularly settled his accounts there, I assumed that this must be another concern. I can’t quite understand how this account slipped by without my knowing about it. I am sending the bill to Mr. Lee and asking him to O.K. it and return it to me at once. On its receipt I shall be glad to see that prompt settlement is made.
Very truly yours,
