My dear Tommy,
Thanks for your good letter received this morning. I am glad to hear that there is a prospect that I can take up at a comparatively early date that loan at the bank, and hence save you further interest charges. I had supposed that you understood the situation; since the stalemate of your account, which I have sent you from time to time, have indicated existing conditions. Perhaps I should have been more careful to explain the matter to you detail.
Congratulations on the generally good reports you have received for your team's work! Get busy with that German, however. You may need it some time if Germany wins this present war.
What are you going to do for your Christmas holidays? I wish I might have a chance to have a good old-fashioned talk with you. Good luck to you anyway!
Faithfully yours,
Mr.Thomas Lee
