My dear Madam:

I have your letter of the 51st inst. and the enclosed bill for board charged by you against Mr. Thomas Lee from October 28th to December 11th. I am wholly at a loss to account for this bill, for on looking over the disbursements made by me last year in Mr. Lee’s behalf, I find that board was regularly paid a Mrs. Shea, and covering practically the entire fall term. I am writing Mr. Lee for further information and in the meantime I shall be pleased to have you explain more fully if you can the nature of Mr. Lee’s obligations to you.

Very truly yours,
